Museum Exhibit Commemorates Itami Airport’s 70th Anniversary - Contributions from the Public
The Itami Municipal Museum in Itami, Hyogo Prefecture is seeking contributions for an exhibition to be held starting on July 4 in commemoration of Osaka International Airport’s (also known as Itami Airport) 70th anniversary.
The exhibit will be called Osaka International Airport 70th Anniversary: Passing through 70 Years with the Airport. Aiming to “create an exhibit with city residents,” it will look back on 70 years of history from the perspective of people who have lived nearby through publicly contributed photographs and objects connected to the airport.
The museum is not only seeking out precious and rare items, but also pieces that contributors want to display at the exhibit to conjure up memories of the airport. As much as possible the museum would like information such as dates and locations of photographs, as well as stories related to photographs and objects.
Contributions can be taken in person to the museum, or mailed with a note reading “Attn: Passing through 70 Years with the Airport.” (As of the time this article was written, there is no official English translation, so you may want to write this message in Japanese to see original Japanese article or take your contribution in person.) The museum will preserve photographs in its archives and return other objects to contributors after the exhibition ends.
The deadline for submitting contributions is May 15.
