Limited-Supply Sales of Kobe Airport CD Used for Terminal BGM
(09/14/2009)
On August 22, Kobe Airport in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture released a CD with the song “Yume - Mirai” (meaning “Dream - Future”), the airport’s theme song, and it has received a positive response.
The airport terminal had the music independently produced to make the airport feel friendlier to its many visitors, as well as to create a relaxing mood when departing and provide a welcoming atmosphere upon arrival.
The songs were written and composed by musical artists Yoko Hizuki and Mamoru Miyagi, who mostly perform in Kobe and Okinawa. The two put on a short live performance in the airport terminal the day of the CD’s release where they presented the original songs to airport visitors and personnel. According to an airport terminal spokesperson, over 100 copies were sold after the performance, and there was a “larger than expected” response to the theme song. The same track is now used as background music in the airport terminal.
There is a limited supply of only 1,000 discs, which are being sold in Marine Air Mart 1, a store on the second floor of the airport. The album, priced at 1,050 yen, contains three tracks including the airport theme song.
