FDA and Nagano Prefecture in Talks on Routes to Shinshu Matsumoto Airport

On November 18, Makinohara, Shizuoka Prefecture-based Fuji Dream Airlines (FDA) announced it will consider operating two routes between Matsumoto and Fukuoka, and Matsumoto and New Chitose, after receiving a request from Nagano Prefecture.

The goal is for FDA to inherit two of Matsumoto Airport's routes, which Japan Airlines (JAL) has decided to abandon, and talks with Nagano Prefecture are under way on the possibility of starting early morning flights. On the same day, a message by Nagano Governor Jin Murai was posted at the prefecture’s website concerning official action to keep the routes in use, which read, “We need to have jets flying daily starting early next fiscal year, and we are engaging in formal talks.”

On November 2, FDA announced its intent to start operating new flights on the Shizuoka-Fukuoka route from Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport, from which JAL announced it will completely withdraw.
