Christmas lights by LEDs are now up at Kobe Airport in Kobe.

Christmas lights are now up at Kobe Airport in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture.

The lights, centered around the departures lobby on the second floor of the terminal and the rooftop observation deck, are using 20,000 LEDs. The main Christmas tree standing in the departures lobby is roughly four meters tall. Jazzy Christmas songs are playing in the terminal while the decorations are up.

Atsushi Yamamoto from Kobe Airport Terminal’s General Affairs Department stated, “There are lots of people who hang out on the roof and watch the aircraft, so we thought we’d like them to be able to take it easy and relax even more. That’s why we started the rooftop lights. With the tree on the second floor, we want people to feel the Christmas spirit.” He added, “Since its opening, this airport, unlike any other airport, has consistently had many non-flying visitors. We’d be pleased for those visitors and of course people boarding flights to spend their time here leisurely in a welcoming atmosphere with a Kobe flavor.”

The lights are on from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. (sunset to 11:00 p.m. on the rooftop observation deck) until December 25 (February 14 on the rooftop observation deck).
