Free Whole “Aomori Apples” at Airport Lounge - PR for Local Produce by Aomori Airport

Visitors to Aomori Airport in Aomori, Aomori Prefecture can get free, locally grown “Aomori apples” at the Airport Lounge.

You can enjoy the taste of a fresh “Fuji” apple during the picking season in Aomori along with a breakfast croissant prepared every morning in the lounge starting at 8:30 a.m. (with apples available all day). According to a spokesperson from Aomori Airport Terminal Building, a large volume of apples could not be shipped due to serious hail injury last season, so as one measure to deal with the problem it was thought that the “visually soothing” Aomori apples with their “unparalleled deliciousness” could be offered to airport visitors.

Although there was no hail injury this season, allowing people to taste the freshly harvested apples for breakfast helps promote the prefecture’s produce, so they are being offered again. The same spokesperson also said that the big visual impact the “whole apples” have made and the quality taste of the unique Aomori “nectar” that fills them have been “popular among lounge visitors.”

The lounge is open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Use of the lounge is 800 yen for adults and 400 yen for children, although the fee is waived for holders of certain credit cards. The free apples will be offered until some time in March.
