On March 24, a national food exhibition for general airport visitors started in the Galaxy Hall in Terminal 1 of Haneda Airport (Ohta Ward, Tokyo).

There are about 30 brands of sweets from across Japan, from Hokkaido all the way down to Kagoshima, along with bentos (portable boxed meals) and other dishes from every part of the country. They make up a selection of foods not usually for sale at the airport. This is the first such exhibition in the multi-purpose hall, where visitors can get an up-close view of the aircraft at Haneda.

Some of the main products on display are sweets like the Strawberry Roll (Gado Senka, Niigata) and Tongari Cheese Mont Blanc (Ginza Mimoza-kan, Tokyo). Bentos include Domestic Pork on Rice (Hot Pepper, Hokkaido) and the Gokai Bento (Hamagata Suisan, Hokkaido). There are also side dishes such as Flavored Fried Chicken Wings (Hanaizumi, Nagoya) and Utsunomiya Gyoza (Ekuan Shokuhin, Utsunomiya).

According to the event sponsor, Japan Airport Terminal Co., Ltd., “You can only find a venue with a sixth-floor view of the runways at Haneda Airport.” The company wants to hold a sampling, exhibition and sales event with a bustling, “underground department store atmosphere.”

The event will be held until March 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
