On April 28, Miyazaki Prefecture-based Skynet Asia Airways (SNA) announced three daily roundtrip flights starting October 31 on new routes connecting Oita Airport in Oita Prefecture with Haneda Airport in Tokyo.

SNA is increasing its routes with the expansion happening at Haneda Airport, and Oita Airport will be the fifth destination in Kyushu served by the carrier, following Miyazaki, Kumamoto, Nagasaki and Kagoshima. Aircraft to be used for the flights will be 150-seat Boeing 737-400s.

Opening the Oita-Haneda route comes from SNA’s active pursuit of new routes in Oita Prefecture and elsewhere, and the carrier revealed that the prefecture has a policy in place to offer support with subsidies of 500 million yen for advertising, travel merchandise and improved access to the airport with large-scale maintenance work on its roads. Details on schedules and fares for the new route will be announced in late August.
