Since June 20, Niigata Airport in Niigata, Niigata Prefecture has been holding the Niigata Wazaten Hyakunen Monogatari exhibition event, which is presenting excellent products and technology from the prefecture on the second-floor lobby of the passenger terminal.

The event is promoting products and technology under the original Hyakunen Monogatari (meaning “100-Year Tale”) brand to airport visitors. The brand is a collaborative effort by the Niigata Industrial Creation Organization and Niigata Prefecture companies. Since Hyakunen Monogatari was launched in 2003, its basic theme has been “tools to enjoy, maintain and pass down the livelihood and culture that we want to continue cherishing 100 years from now.” The brand proposes to develop “the provision of Niigata, Japan’s productive appeal and strength to the world and the construction of a system to build and support a better livelihood and culture.” Teruhiko Doi, the Editorial Director of World Photo Press Co., Ltd. who has become Hyakunen Monogatari’s design manager, has been creating products in diverse categories including “Tools for Men” and Tableware Selection.”

According to the Niigata Industrial Creation Organization, participating companies have been recruited just since 2010, but there are many who have endorsed the brand’s expansion and are proactively expressing their interest. The exhibit is open from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. until June 27.
