Beginning in January 29, 2011, Canadian carrier Air Canada will operate a daily commercial flight on the Haneda-Vancouver route.

With the establishment of new routes in accordance with the re-expansion and internationalization of Haneda Airport, the flight schedule will have a late-night departure from Haneda at 12:30 a.m. to arrive in Vancouver at 4:25 p.m. (the previous calendar day). On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, flights will depart Vancouver at 7:30 p.m. and arrive at Haneda at 11:00 p.m. (the following calendar day). On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, flights will depart Vancouver at 7:00 p.m. and arrive at Haneda at 10:30 p.m. (the following calendar day). The flights will be operated on board 211-seat Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft. Schedules and all other details are pending approval.

Air Canada, which currently flies the Narita-Vancouver route, stated, “Customers will be able to choose between flying non-stop to Haneda, which is only 30 minutes from downtown Tokyo, or they can continue to fly non-stop to Narita International Airport for onward domestic or international connections on our Star Alliance partners.” Furthermore, the new route will allow for connections at Haneda with partner airlines who have already announced routes to destinations such as Singapore (Singapore Airlines) and Bangkok (Thai Airways International).

In April 2009, the aviation bureaus of both countries agreed to allow one flight per day for each country during talks on flight volume between Haneda and major Canadian cities. Air Canada is the first airline to announce plans to establish a route.
