Apple Juice Faucets at Misawa Airport - Limited-Time Promotion for Aomori Apples
(10/22/2008)
From October 8 to 13, a faucet pouring apple juice when turned on was placed at Misawa Airport (Misawa, Aomori Prefecture) to the delight of travelers.
The airport terminal and the Guraishi Regional Promotion Corporation (based in Gonohe Town) set up the “faucets” offering free samples of apple juice in the baggage claim area for a limited time in order to promote apples produced in Kennan (in the south of the prefecture). The juice being offered was Kogyoku-no-sato Apple Juice made by the corporation with apples from Guraishi.
According to an airport spokesperson, this was the first time it had set up a "faucet" like this. Expectations of 300 people per day were exceeded as travelers enjoyed the local flavor during the pleasure trip season. The object d’art apple about one meter in diameter into which the faucet was inserted drew the attention of many people, and the same spokesperson said, "This has been a very successful promotion for Guraishi apple juice."
The corporation is planning to expand such promotions when the opportunity arises.
