On February 14, low-cost carrier (LCC) A&F Aviation Co., Ltd. - a joint venture between All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Hong Kong-based First Eastern Investment Group - decided to use the Airbus A320-200.

The A320-200 is a small airliner that seats 180. An order has already been made and the first aircraft will be delivered this fall, followed by another ten planes over the next two years.

A new airline providing travel services, A&F Aviation is a separate business entity from ANA that as of now is continuing preparations to begin operations in the latter half of FY2011. Under the company's plan, A&F will be based at Kansai International Airport in Izumisano, Osaka Prefecture, where its goal is to operate on multiple domestic and international routes as the company develops its business strategy of offering a high volume of seats at low fares to compete with major Asian LCCs that continue to make headway on routes in Japan.

The new company will continue preparations such as determining its branding and hiring personnel. A&F plans to start gradually announcing fares on routes from March onward.
