AirAsia X (IATA Code: D7), Malasian low-cost carrier (LCC) AirAsia Group's long-haul airline, will initiate new service on a route connecting Kansai International Airport in Izumisano, Osaka Prefecture with Kuala Lumpur.

This will be the carrier's second Japan route following its Haneda-Kuala Lumpur route established last December. As of the time this article was written, AirAsia X CEO Azran Osman Rani was scheduled to make an official announcement during a press conference in Osaka on August 10, during which he was expected to reveal details including the flight schedule, operating aircraft and special fares to commemorate the new service.

AirAsia X had already hinted at plans to fly to Osaka's Kansai Airport through its official Facebook and Twitter accounts. On Facebook the airline merely posted images of Osaka and Kansai with a message reading "AirAsia X's Next Stop." AirAsia X also said it would provide gifts of three pairs of round-trip tickets on the new route starting on August 8.

Since establishing its route to Haneda, AirAsia X has expressed its intent to fly to other cities in Japan including Osaka and has also announced that it has set up a new company based at Narita International Airport, AirAsia Japan Co., Ltd., in a joint venture with All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. (ANA). AirAsia is expanding its business in the Japanese market as a major LLC brand from Asia.
