On August 9, Narita International Airport in Narita, Chiba Prefecture released a free e-book for the iPad entitled "Transit Sora."

The app was developed in the hopes that users will use the airport, thus "raising the number of people traveling to destinations across the globe." According to an airport spokesperson, it is "the world's first e-book produced by an airport with a travel theme." The content is based on that from the "mook" (magazine/book) "Transit Sora" published by Euphoria Factory LLC and released last March, with original sounds, columns and other additions. Sounds from the world's streets and aircraft engines on airport runways have been gathered along with a collection of original photos from Narita Airport and much more.

The app is available for free download from the Apple App Store (requires iOS 4.2 or higher). iPhone (same OS requirements) and Android (Android 2.2, 2.3 or higher) versions will come out in early September while a PC version (IE 6.0 or Safari 3.0 or higher) will launch in late September.
