Skymark Announces Details on First Phase of Narita Shuttle - Routes to Sapporo and Asahikawa, Web Discounts

On August 26, Ohta Ward, Tokyo-based Skymark Airlines Inc. announced details regarding a new service connecting Narita with Sapporo (New Chitose) and Asahikawa starting on October 30.

The two routes with six daily flights (three round-trip) will be the carrier's first to serve Narita International Airport and are the first part of the Narita Shuttle plan announced last April to connect nine Japanese airports with Narita for fares as low as JPY 980. In addition to setting JPY 980 one-way "Web Bargain" fares for embarkations between October 30 and November 30, Skymark is also offering "Web-wari 21" (meaning "Web Discount 21") fares for JPY 3,800 along with other deals. The airline plans to open more Narita Shuttle routes connecting the airport with Fukuoka and Naha, to be followed later by additional routes to Hakodate, Izumo, Takamatsu, Tokushima and Ishigaki. Regular fares will be set about JPY 2,000 lower than other flights serving Narita.

Skymark also made clear its intention to fly on long-haul international routes based out of Narita using Airbus A380s by 2014 and to grow its business on international routes in three years by expanding its domestic route network with the Narita Shuttle.
