On November 1, Minato Ward, Tokyo-based Keihin Kyuko Bus Co., Ltd. began operating highway buses connecting Haneda Airport with Hakone-Yumoto in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture.

The new route will connect Haneda Airport's terminal with Hakone-Yumoto, a Kanagawa hot spring resort, via Yokohama Station. Keihin Kyuko Bus and Odakyu Kahone Highway Bus (operated by Hakone Highway Bus Inc.) will each provide round-trip service once a day. After departure from the airport's international terminal, the route has stops at Domestic Terminal 2, Domestic Terminal 1, followed by Yokohama Station. Then, after taking the highway to Hakone-Yumoto Station, the bus heads for Hotel Hatsuhana. The inbound route departs from the hotel and makes the same stops on the way to Haneda's international terminal. Travel time is about 2 hours and 20 minutes in either direction.

Fare between Haneda Airport and the Hakona-Yumoto area is JPY 1,900 (JPY 950 for children) and JPY 1,500 between Yokohama and Hakone-Yumoto (JPY 750 for children). Advance reservation is available.

A Keihin Kyuko Bus spokesperson said that the company has had a route to Togendai via Gotemba, but opening the new direct Haneda-Hakone route will vastly improve convenience. The company expects the service to be used by foreign travelers upon arriving at Haneda Airport on international flights as well as domestic travelers visiting the Kanto area.
