On January 5, Japan's first low-cost carrier (LCC), Peach, an airline operated by Peach Aviation Limited that will commence service on March 1, sold limited quantities of one-way tickets between Kansai International Airport and Fukuoka Airport for JPY 250 each.

Peach offered the extraordinarily cheap fares for 5,000 seats on the route as a promotional campaign to commemorate the start of Peach's service. Eligible boarding times are those occurring between March 1 and 24. The tickets were sold for a limited time between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on January 5, with the carrier's website and Contact Center (telephone reservation center) handling bookings. Although the JPY 250 fare includes permission for carry-on luggage weighing up to 10 kilograms, checked luggage and reserved seating cost extra, while tickets purchased through the Contact Center incurred an additional reservation handling fee of JPY 1,050. Normal one-way fares on the route range from JPY 5,480 to 15,780.

Peach has also decided to offer 5,000 seats at the same promotional fare on its Kansai-New Chitose route, which, as with the Kansai-Fukuoka route, the airline will begin flying on March 1. The sales date for these tickets will be announced at a later time.

Limited-time sales of tickets with promotional fares is one way that many LCCs outside Japan sell tickets, but Peach has been the first to do so in Japan.
