On January 12, low-cost carrier (LCC) Peach, operated by Peach Aviation Limited, announced that it will open five new routes connecting its hub at Kansai International Airport (KIX) with Nagasaki, Kagoshima, Naha, Hong Kong and Taipei (Taoyuan) starting with the Spring 2012 schedule (March 25 - October 27).

The Kansai-Nagasaki route will commence service on March 25, the Kagoshima route on April 1 and the others (Naha, Hong Kong and Taipei [Taoyuan]) later in FY2012.

While Peach continues preparations to begin operating routes connecting Kansai with New Chitose and Fukuoka on March 1, the airline also plans to start flying its first international route in May between Kansai and Seoul. With the announcement of the five new routes, Peach's network in its first year of business will grow to five domestic routes and three international.

Peach is purchasing ten brand new Airbus A320-200 aircraft, of which two have been delivered. The airline plans the new routes expecting delivery of more aircraft on schedule.
