Sendai Airport in Natori, Miyagi Prefecture is holding an event for recovery and assistance in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake. The event, which runs from March 5 - 11, is called Tohoku Kanko-haku: Don’t Let Up Tohoku.

The event is a joint project by Sendai Airport Building Co, Ltd., which administers and operates the airport's terminal, along with Japan Airport Terminal Co., Ltd (headquartered at 3 Haneda Airport, Ohta Ward, Tokyo), Kansai International Airport (in Izumisano, Osaka Prefecture) and the Tohoku Kanko-haku Executive Committee. The event is featuring a live concert promoting post-disaster recovery and assistance as well as panel displays presenting how people have worked to help the disaster area recover. The goal of the event is to stimulate tourism demand in the Tohoku region, where the local economy has been in a slump since the Great East Japan Earthquake struck in March of last year.

The panel display is set up in the terminal building for the duration of the event. On March 9 - 11, a side-event called Tohoku is One - Bonds of the Airport is displaying local Tohoku specialties in the central event area on the second floor between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. each day. A live concert to promote recovery and assistance, as well as to promote and share information about the region, is scheduled at the event information booth on the 11th. The opening ceremony is scheduled for that morning and a minute of silence will be observed in the afternoon at the time the earthquake struck.

This event is also being held at Haneda Airport (March 1 - 31) and Kansai International Airport (March 3 - 11). More information is available at each airport's website.
