3 Regular Skymark Flights to be "Annular Eclipse Flights" on 5/21

Skymark Airlines Inc., headquartered at 1 Haneda Airport, Ohta Ward, will conduct Annular Eclipse Flights on some of its domestic commercial flights on May 21.

Skymark will alter the routes of three flights to pass through the eclipse's shadow and afford passengers seated on both sides of the aircraft the chance to witness Japan's first annular eclipse in 25 years. The flights are:

SKY001 - 6:20 a.m. Haneda departure, 8:15 a.m. Fukuoka arrival

SKY511 - 6:25 a.m. Haneda departure, 9:15 a.m. Naha arrival

SKY002 - 7:05 a.m. Fukuoka departure, 8:40 a.m. Haneda arrival

Although there are some restrictions on reserving seats when purchasing tickets, Skymark says it will inform passengers that they will be asked to share the use of window seats during the eclipse so that more people will be able to enjoy it. Passengers will need to bring their own viewing equipment as cabin window glass is not tinted for directly viewing the eclipse.

There will be other eclipse day flights in Japan such as charter Annular Eclipse Flights operated by Japan Air Lines Co., Ltd. (JAL) and special flights with Solaseed Air as part of a promotional campaign by Sapporo Breweries Ltd.
