Free High-Speed EV Charging Stations for General Visitors to Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport
On April 23, high-speed charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) available to the public were installed at Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport in Makinohara, Shizuoka Prefecture.
Shizuoka installed the charging stations for general airport visitors as part of the prefectural government's drive to popularize and promote the use of EVs, plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHVs) and two-wheeled electric vehicles. Visitors use the stations by borrowing a special charging card from a reception counter so they can self-charge their vehicles. The stations are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Charging typically finishes within half an hour (or about 15 minutes if they are busy). The stations are free to use.
The installations are part of the prefecture's Fuji-no-kuni EV & PHV Town Project to reduce damage to the environment by employing EVs and other green technology.
Japanese airports are gradually installing high-speed EV charging stations for their visitors. Free charging is now available to the public at airports such as Haneda, Kansai, Kobe, Okayama and Kitakyushu.
