Chubu "Centrair" International Airport in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture outside Nagoya released its original 2013 Beaujolais Nouveau label designs on July 26.

To promote imports of the French wine, the airport has sold limited-edition bottles of Beaujolais Villages Nouveau red wine and Macon Villages Nouveau white wine as original airport products since 2006. Every year Centrair seeks bottle label designs from the public to make the products more original.

The submission by designer Kanako Koike won the top prize among this year's 176 entries. The stylish label design features a grapevine, leaves and grapes and a departing aircraft flying across a black background. Council of Chubu Design Honorary President Shigeo Okamoto chaired the selection committee.

The winning design will be adopted for the 2013 bottle labels, which will only be sold at shops in the airport terminal building starting on the Beaujolais Nouveau release date in November.
