Skymark Airlines Inc. (headquartered at 3 Haneda Airport, Ohta Ward, Tokyo) made a September announcement on plans to commence service to Yonago Airport in Tottori Prefecture, western Japan.

Flights connecting Yonago with Narita International Airport outside Tokyo and Kobe Airport will start on December 20, with two round-trip flights daily on each (for a total of eight trips). Skymark will also offer one roundtrip flight a day between Yonago and Ibaraki Airport north of Tokyo, using the Yongao-Kobe flight as one leg of the journey.

Skymark also announced plans for a daily roundtrip flight on three routes connecting Yonago with Haneda (Tokyo), Naha (Okinawa) and New Chitose (Sapporo) starting in November 2014. The move will mark a dramatic increase in domestic commercial flights to Yonaga, which is now only served by five daily roundtrip flights to Haneda courtesy of All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. (ANA).

The Yonago routes will be the first for Skymark in the Chugoku region of western Japan.
