AirAsia X also began a promotional campaign after the announcement on the new route from November 19 to 24, during which travelers can purchase one-way economy class tickets between Nagoya and Kuala Lumpur at a special rate of JPY 6,990 each for flights between March 17 and August 5, 2014.

The carrier, part of the AirAsia group, flies on mid- to long-haul routes. The new Centrair route will be its third to Japan after Haneda in Tokyo and Kansai outside Osaka. According to the company, the Japanese market held a share of more than 14% on the company's total revenue, making the market important in its global network, based on gross sales for the first half of 2013.
