Hong Kong Express Airways Increasing Kansai-Hong Kong Flight Volume to 11 Roundtrips a Week
Hong Kong Express Airways Limited, the only low-cost carrier (LCC) based in Hong Kong, will add more flights to its roundtrip service between Kansai International Airport (KIX) outside Osaka and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) beginning on December 7, raising the number of roundtrip flights on the route to 11 per week.
Hong Kong Express Airways commenced service connecting Hong Kong with Tokyo's Haneda Airport on November 7 and with Kansai on November 21. According to the airline's announcement, the increased flight volume will provide departures from Osaka on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays and from Hong Kong on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The schedule for the additional flights is as follows.
Depart KIX @ 1:50 a.m. - Arrive at HKG @ 5:15 a.m.
Depart HKG @ 8:30 p.m. - Arrive at KIX @ 12:55 a.m.
Hong Kong Express Airways Deputy CEO Andrew Cowen says the LCC chose to increase flight volume in line with demand stemming from Osaka's popularity among Hong Kongers. Visitors to Osaka can tour sightseeing spots like Kobe, Nara and Kyoto, and Mr. Cowen believes the airline can offer attractive fares on the flights.
One-way fare between Hong Kong and Kansai on Hong Kong Airways Express is HK$718 (about JPY 9,250). A fuel surcharge is the only additional required fee.
