“Working People at Airports” Uniformed Figures by ANA Trading on Sale at 34 Airports across Japan

On January 7, All Nippon Airways Trading, based in Minato Ward, Tokyo, announced the sale of ANA Uniform Collection 2 figures to be packaged in candy bags at thirty-four ANA Festa shops in Haneda and elsewhere.

Purchasers do not know the identity of the figure until opening their package of Kuro Ame (Japanese black hard candy) provided on domestic ANA flights. The price is 450 yen.

The figures are 10 cm tall and based on “working people at airports” clad in ANA uniforms, with three types of flight attendants, two pilots, two ground staff members and one mechanic. Kaiyodo, the world-renowned maker of elaborate figures based in Kadoma, Osaka Prefecture, is helping out by producing the figures.

For the first ANA Uniform Collection in 2005, when ANA redesigned its uniforms, figures were released wearing uniforms from different eras in the company’s history. ANA said it sold 200,000 figures on the first day, and 900,000 in total. The company also stated that the figures in the second collection, “with their realistic appearance and energetic, can-do poses, won’t be outdone by the excellent first collection.”

The figures can also be mail ordered from ANA via “astyle,” its online store, and in-flight magazines.
