“Sky Bagels” with Melon Taste from Bagel & Bagel only at New Chitose Airport
(02/09/2009)
Bagel & Bagel at New Chitose Airport in Chitose, Hokkaido has been selling Melon Bagels (pictured) using Yubari melons in its dough since February 2. Dream Corporation, based in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo and the operator of the bagel chain store, took a cue from Soraben (“Sky Bento”) and Sora Sweets (“Sky Sweets”) at airports around Japan to come up with the Sora Bagel. The company hopes that people will thoroughly enjoy the taste and aroma of Yubari melons, an ingredient made only in Hokkaido.
The melon bagels are only sold in take-out sets of four and are priced at 650 yen. As sales are limited only to New Chitose Airport, Dream Corporation stated, “We truly hope that they will become a standard Hokkaido souvenir.”
The company has also offered bagels in Japanese airport lounges and in-flight on international routes. In addition, the company has accomplished other achievements in the airport and airline sector, such as when its bagels were used for in-flight meals on planes chartered for world leaders of countries attending the Lake Toya Summit. According to a spokesperson from the advertising department, Dream Corporation may, depending on how the new product sells, consider developing new Sora Bagels for each region of Japan using local ingredients in the future.
Bagel & Bagel at New Chitose Airport is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
