On October 28, the tentatively named Phase 2 Airport Island KIX Ecopark will open at Kansai International Airport in Izumisano, Osaka Prefecture.

The new nature park will open at the same time as the airport's Terminal Building 2. The four-hectare site, covering about the same area as Koshien Stadium, will contain a field and "Ecofarm" that will be open to travelers and the general public. With views of aircraft and Osaka Bay nearby, the new addition will be "a large park where you can enjoy both the air and sea." The Ecofarm will also use recycled lawn clippings from Osaka International Airport (also known as Itami Airport).

Visitors will be able to walk to both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 from the park, situated 1,800 meters (20 minutes on foot) from the airport's train station. the park will also connect to a jogging and walking course.

Terminal 2 will be a "dedicated LCC (low-cost carrier) terminal" that foreign and domestic (Japanese) LCCs like Peach Aviation plan to use as a hub.
